Deputy Principal’s Message

Dear Sirius College family,

Welcome back to what promises to be a fruitful year! I look forward to many academic and social/emotional learning curves with all our students this year. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome some new staff on board this year. Our principal, Mr Murat Guzel, Year 1 teacher Ms Bassant, Year 3 teacher Ms Zeinab, Year 3 teacher Ms Selin, Year 5 teacher Ms Funda, and our school nurse Ms Ashlee. They have settled in very well to their new positions.

At the beginning of each year we go over and remind our students about our school rules. Please go through them with your child so they can remember what SIRIUS stands for at Eastmeadows Primary and Dallas Campuses.

Our whole school Rules

At Sirius College we:

Please note that we follow a Positive Behaviour Management system in the primary years, particularly years F-4. Students are well aware of the expectations as a Sirius College student.

Having these preferred practices, enhance professionalism and increase the sense of shared professional consistency across our college. It provides a positive learning culture, as students are aware of the expectations, the rewards, and the consequences if they fail to follow the framework of expectations. I ask that you check SEQTA regularly to keep up to date. We trust that parents/guardians will work with the college, to make it a safe and happy environment for everyone.

School Captains

I congratulate and welcome our School Captains for 2019 as follows:

Eastmeadows Primary School Captain: Tasneem Adam
Eastmeadows Primary School Vice Captain: Syed Azan Bukhari
Dallas Primary School Captain: Bonsan Kedir
Dallas Primary School Vice Captain: Alara Kutbay
Dallas Primary School Sports Captain: Ahmet Veli
Dallas Primary School Vice Sports Captain: Zaynab Abukar

I trust that they will carry out their roles with utmost dignity and respect towards everyone, and be the voice of our students in our college.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up

Student safety is the highest priority at Sirius College. We have to make every effort to ensure that all students are under appropriate supervision at all times. Our school hours are 8.45AM to 3.25PM. Students are expected to be at school between 8.30am - 8.45am. If, for a good reason, a student arrives late he/she must report to the general office. If a student is expected to be late, then a parent must notify the school prior to 8.45am. The earliest we can accept students being dropped off to school is at 8.30AM. Students MUST be picked up by 3.35PM. Unless it is raining, students must be dropped off into the school grounds, and not in the school buildings. If your child is not picked up by 3.45PM they well be escorted to the after school care program, which will incur a fee. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

I wish all students, staff and families a prosperous year filled with great memories.

Mrs. Nazan Zengin
Deputy Principal
